The Bee Gees were formed in 1958 by brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, and they went on to become one of the most successful and influential pop groups in history. Though their sound evolved dramatically over the years, they are best known for shaping the disco era of the late 1970s with their soaring falsettos, layered harmonies, and emotional songwriting. The group’s rise to international fame came with the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in 1977, which included timeless hits like “Stayin’ Alive,” “Night Fever,” and “How Deep Is Your Love.” That album alone became one of the best-selling soundtracks of all time and played a major role in bringing disco to the mainstream.

Despite incredible success, the Bee Gees’ journey was also marked by personal tragedy. Maurice passed away in 2003, and Robin in 2012—leaving Barry as the last surviving member. Still, their influence remains undeniable. In 1997, the Bee Gees were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They’ve sold over 220 million records worldwide and earned countless awards and honors. Barry Gibb has continued to honor the group’s legacy through solo work and tribute performances. Their 1977 anthem “Stayin’ Alive” remains a cultural touchstone—certified platinum multiple times and often cited in films, shows, and even medical training for its BPM. The Bee Gees aren’t just a disco group. They’re a musical legacy that spans decades, genres, and generations.
